The first annual Abingdon Amateur BBQ Competition takes place on August 2nd from 11:00AM to 3:30PM on Remsburg Drive with the winner declared at 4:00PM.
This event celebrates the art of barbecue, bringing together local amateur pit masters to showcase their skills in a completely OPEN category: Pulled Pork, Rib Racks, .....you name it....It is Pitmaster’s Choice!. Unlike Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS) guidelines, our judging criteria will focus on three essential elements: Taste,Texture, and Presentation. Additionally, a People’s Choice award will be determined through a scorecard system handed out to attendees who purchase tasting tickets.
With the blues music of Billy Crawford Band, this inaugural event of BBQ and Blues is sure to be a crowd favorite!
